Buckman discussed the company's organizational revie indicated that a management consultant firm (M.A.C.) had been retained by CPCo and that their review was well in progres indicated that CPCo was expecting to receive the preliminary ings and recommendations from M.A.C. by June 15, 198 He He find-R. Montross discussed operations item He indicated that an Institute of Nuclear Power Operations audit had just been completed, and that the NRC resident inspector had attended the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations exit intervie He discussed the status and plans as they related to operations and health physics staffing, training, training facilities, future plans for the shift technical adviser, decontamination facilities, preventive maintenance program, procedure reviews, and other Mr. Montross stated that a substantial increase in staff size has.been authorized, interviews are in progress, and sixteen offers have been extende Regarding licensed operators, Mr. Montross stated that they presently have sufficient licensed per-sonnel to properly man each.shift and to permit implementation of the licensed operator retraining progra He stated that there are currently six operators in training for Reactor Operator (RO) licenses and that they will be ready for licensing examinations by the end of 198 Mr. Montross also discussed the plans in progress for the

  • staffing in the Instrument and Control and chemical and health physics section Mr. Montross stated that the review of procedures was in progress and that the review of all safety-related and technical

  • specification required procedures was complete Mr. DeWitt discussed staffing and training at the plant and company level He discussed recent organizational changes in the training department staff, and in-troduced two key training department staff members to the NRC personnel present..Mr. DeWitt also discussed the program and plans already in progress regarding health physics, A.L.A.R.A. and the standardization of H.P. procedure Mr.. DeWitt commented on the status of recruiting additional staff members indicating that some difficulty is being encountered in finding the personnel having the qualifications

.. required for these position Mr. DeWitt indicated that it was CPCo's intent to request similar meetings to periodically update the NRC on the status of CPCo's program for the improvement of the regulatory performance at the Palisades Plan Mr. Keppler acknowledged that such meetings should continue, and suggested that one such meeting be held in the NRC Headquarters offices in Bethesda, Marylan Mr. Keppler also acknowledged that the NRC was aware that Palisades regulatory performance has shown a marked improvement over the past four months and encouraged CPCo to
