Areas Discussed Mr. Hehl stated that the-purpose of the meeting was to discuss the I
effectiveness of the Quad Cities Nuclear Station Training Program, i
Mr. Bax presented a summary of _ the 1986 NRC and CECO activities. The presentation continued with an analysis and planned actions as a' result of the July 20, 1987 examination. Mr. Bax also reviewed the proposed ~
Quad Cities staffing and training program changes.
Mr. D. Galle delivered supporting remarks concerning the proposed
changes to the Quad Cities staff and training program.
Mr. Bax, Mr. Rodts, and Mr. Clark addressed examination questioning methods, analytical versus rote memory recall and comprehensive testing.
Mr. Bax and Mr. Rodts addressed Quad Cities incorporation of NRC and
,
comprehensive examination methods.
Mr. Bax and Mr. Ring discussed operator opinions of the Quad Cities training.
Mr. Bax summarized Quad Cities emphesis on improving the Shift Foreman / Shift Centrol Room Engineer's knowledge and abilities to the Shift Engineer level on1 Sections 7 and 8 of the operating examinations.

versus the personnel that completed the accelerated requalification i
training program.
Mr. Bax stated that all the personnel that failed had j
completed the accelerated program.

drawn from the fact that personnel failing the July 1987 examination j
