'CENTRAL Fl,.LES Thank you for your letter dated June 13, 1980, informing us of your response to the unresolved items which we brought to your attention in Inspection Report No. 50-249/80-09 forwarded by our letter dated April 26' 198 We have no further questions on your evaluation of the Unit 3 Reactor Water Cleanup System (RWCU) water hammer damage and the proposed re-inspection pla However, an inspection of the Unit 2 RWCU for similar problems should be conducted by you during the next extended plant outag We received your prompt notification reports stating that plans are underway to repair the CRD Sc.ram Discharge seismic Category 1 piping component support.s that are attached to non-se{smic category structure We will examine this matter during a subsequent inspectio The NRC has had numerous discussions with your technical staff in regard to our inspector's questions r~lative to the design of the CRD System seismic restraint These discussions have prompted the need for clari-fication in the following areas: Since design arid installation documents for the CRD System small bore piping were not available after your extensive record search, when will you be initiating efforts to evaluate the existing in-stallation for the SSE loading conditions? Based on a review of your previous submittals, we have noted that certain sections of.the CRD System piping near the reactor vessel pedestal appear to be within the pipe resonance rang Your sub-mittals do not provide a sufficient basis for us to conclude that the design meets FSAR commitment Consequently, additional evalua-tion of design adequacy is requeste ~~91
