Instruments used for radiation surveys were Xetex model 305B's serial numbers 8172 and 8194, due for recalibration September 25,' 1930.
Contamination surveys of unloaded trailers and checks. for removable radioactive contamination were per- , formed with an Eberline E-520 and HP-260 pancake probe, due for recalibration

Trailer: 440175 Shippers Humber: 350938 1.
The trailer transported 9 metal boxes of radioactive waste, LSA, as described in Appendix A (RSR Ho. 23339).
This was an exclusive use shipment.

Radiation surveys of the trailer indicated a maximum surface dose rate of 9 mr/hr, and 3.2 mr/hr at two meters from the trailer.
The , dose rate in.the cab was less than 0.1 mr/hr.

The vehicle was properly placarded.

49 CFR 173.392 (c)(1) requires that materials must be packaged in strong, tight packages so that there will be no leakage.of radioactive material under conditions.normally inc! dent to transportation.
I ' The lid on bin No. 6169 was observed during off loading to be ' unfastened, and thus could readily be lifted off.
Bolt holes were lauking so that the lid could not ba bolted down.

A check of the bin for removable radioactive contamination and a survey of the truck bed after unloading indicated no significant radioactivity.
