Systematic Assessment of Licensee Performance (SALP) Report No. 50-244/90-99
=-The enclosed report transmits the initial results of the R. E. Ginna Nuclear Power Plant'ALP Board Meeting conducted on March 5, 1992.
We willdiscuss the evaluation with you on April 30, 1992 at the RG&E Training Center.
We believe this is an important meeting worthy of your attention.
At the meeting, please be prepared to discuss our assessment and any plans you may have to improve performance.
During the assessment period, performance in the areas of Maintenance/surveillance and Security continued to improve to a superior level.
But performance in the area of Emergency Preparedness showed some indication of decline from the previously superior level.
In the areas of Plant-Operations, Radiological Controls, Engineering/Technical Support, and Safety Assessment/Quality Verification,, performance remained good.
In particular, you should be prepared to discuss the plans you have to reverse the declining trend in the Emergency Preparedness area.
Following our meeting and receipt of your response, the enclosed report, your response, and summary of our findings and planned actions will be placed in the Public Document Room.
Because of the two week delay in scheduling the meeting, we would appreciate receiving your written response within 15 days of the meeting.
