SUBJECT. Deviations not documented in the STP SER PARTICIPANTS: A. Singh (NRC) P. Kadambi (NRC)

(INClllDE NAME AND A. Guidry (Bechtel)

ORGAHl2AT10N OF EACH) A. W. Harrison Review of supplement 4 to the STP SER determined that several deviations to the NFPA codes and Appendix A to BTP APCSB 9.5. -1 were not specifically approved. The subject deviations are described in Attachment 2 to ST-HL-AE-2252 (Items 5, 17 & 18, 10A, 10B) and in ST-HL-AE-2282 (Item 5).

These items were discussed with the NRR reviewer, A. Singh and the STP NRC Project Manager (P. Kadambi) .

The NRC concurred that the deviations described in Attachment 2 to ST-HL-AE-2252 were acceptable. Although the acceptability is not specifically called out in the SER, the NRC has advised the Project that the general wording of the SER and the provisions of Generic Letter 86-10 adequately imply acceptability.

The deviation described in ST-HL-AE-2282, not replacing the unlisted fire hoses with UL listed fire hoses, was not accepted. STP has based its desire to change the commitment on the determination that UL listed non-collapsible hoses were not available. Discussions with the staff have revealed that this may not be the case. Therefore, the existing commitment to replace the hoses will remain unless found to be unmeetable at a later time. (The present FSAR CN to change the commitment should be rejected) .
