Subject:

Beaver Valley Power Station, Unit No.1 and No. 2 BV-1 Docket No. 50-334, License No. DPR-66 BV-2 Docket No. 50-412, License No. NPF-73 Change in Scheduled Completion Date for LER Commitment

Reference:

BV-1, LER 98-020, Rev. 00, dated May 21,1998 BV-1, LER 98-020, Rev. 01, dated July 13,1998 In the correspondence referenced above, Duquesne Light Company committed to revise the applicable Beaver Valley Power Station (BVPS) Unit I and 2 instrumentation and control procedures to include the requirements to calibrate the computer points utilized to satisfy Technical Specification Surveillance Requirements, at a periodicity and error and range consistent with the component's main bench board instrumentation indicators.

This action was committed to be accomplished by May 8,1999.

Procedure change requests have been prepared for the numerous applicable instrumentation and control procedures to include the requisite calibration of computer points. Extended dual unit shutdowns in 1998 and scheduled shutdowns for both units in l 1999 have delayed activities needed to meet the original commitment completion date. l Compliance with BVPS Unit 1 and 2 Technical Specifications to date have been I maintained by completing the required procedure revisions before their next scheduled performance dates. The commitment to revise instrument and control procedures to include the requisite calibration of computer points as stated in LER 98-020-01 is being revised for these remaining procedure revisions to be completed prior to their next use, continuing to maintain compliance with the frequency required by the plant Technical Specifications.

Duquesne Light Company believes that the above change in commitment does not represent a challenge to plant safety' DELIVERING
