Dear Mr. Haire:

In the NRC final significance determination letter (Reference 1), the NRC staff notified Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) of a greater-than-green finding and notice of violation at the Diablo Canyon Power Plant (DCPP). In the Annual Assessment Letter (Reference 2), the NRC indicated that the greater-than-green finding and related performance assessment would require a supplemental inspection. The supplemental inspection was conducted during June 12-15, 2017.

The NRC issued Inspection Report (IR) 2017008 (Reference 3), to document the results of the supplemental inspection. The IR identified areas within the DCPP root cause evaluations that were insufficient to address NRC Inspection Procedure A member of the STARS Alliance Callaway
