Request Regarding Senior Reactor Operator Ucense Application
Dear Ms. Veil:
Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) intends to submit an application, in accordance with 10 CFR 55.31, for an individual to be licensed as a senior reactor operator (SRO) at Diablo Canyon Power Plant (DCPP), Units 1 and 2. This applicant was previously licensed as an SRO at DCPP. As a result, in accordance with 10 CFR 55.47, "Waiver of examination and test requirements;" PG&E intends to request a waiver of the written examination and operating test requirements.
10 CFR 55.47(a) provides that "the Commission may waive any or all of the requirements for a written examination and operating test" if it finds, among other things, that the applicant has "had extensive actual operating experience at a comparable facility, as determined by the Commission, within two years before the date of application" (10 CFR 55.47(a)(1 )).
It has been more than two years since this individual was licensed at DCPP.
Therefore, in support of the SRO license application submittal, and in accordance with 10 CFR 55.11, "Specific exemptions," PG&E requests a one-time exemption from the two-year eligibility requirement of 10 CFR 55.47(a)(1) for this SRO applicant. The enclosure to this letter provides the basis for the requested exemption.
The enclosure contains personal information. PG&E requests that the information contained in the enclosure be withheld from public disclosure, in accordance with 10 CFR 2.390(a)(6).
