Staff from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission will hold a meeting in Port Lavaca, Texas, on Feb. 15 to discuss the agencys process for licensing nuclear power plants.

The NRC is preparing for X-energy and The Dow Chemical Company to apply for a construction permit for a proposed multi-unit advanced reactor facility at Dows Seadrift site in Calhoun County. The meeting aims to improve the communitys understanding of how the agency reviews such applications and how the community can participate.

The meeting will be held from 5 -7:30 p.m. Central time at the Bauer Community Center, 2300 TX-35 North in Port Lavaca. The staff will discuss the NRCs safety and environmental review processes for a construction permit and then take questions from the public.
