No: 24-043 June 3, 2024 CONTACT: Ivonne Couret, 301-415-8200 NRC Schedules Release of FAVPRO Code and Public Meeting June 12 The Nuclear Regulatory Commission will hold a hybrid public meeting June 12 to unveil and discuss FAVPRO, a new computer code for analyzing flaws in the metals used in reactor vessels. The meeting will provide stakeholders with a comprehensive overview of FAVPRO and detailed instructions on how to obtain the code.

Those using the current NRC code, FAVOR, might find FAVPROs probabilistic fracture mechanics assessments helpful when evaluating the structural integrity of reactor pressure vessels to ensure safe operation. During the meeting, staff will discuss the features, development, quality assurance, and user interfaces for FAVPRO.

Details on the meeting information is available on the NRC website. Members of the public who want to attend in person should email Patrick Raynaud at patrick.raynaud@nrc.gov no later than June 10.
