No: 24-040 May 24, 2024 CONTACT: Scott Burnell, 301-415-8200 NRC to Hold Vendor Oversight Workshop June 13 in Baltimore The Nuclear Regulatory Commission is hosting its 9th Workshop on Vendor Oversight June 13 in Baltimore, Maryland.

The workshop, from 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Eastern time, will be held at the Hyatt Regency Inner Harbor, 300 Light St. in Baltimore. The workshop is open to the public, but attendees should register by June 5 via the NRC website. The workshops aim is fostering dialogue among a broad variety of stakeholders, including members of the public, licensees, applicants, industry organizations, and vendors of safety-related parts, materials, and services. This years agenda includes presentations from agency staff, the Electric Power Research Institute, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, Hartford Steam Boiler, Bureau Veritas Inspection and Insurance Company, and the National Board of Boiler & Pressure Vessel Inspectors.

Workshop topics will include the process for adding components to a quality assurance program; roles and responsibilities for meeting defect reporting requirements; the relationship between the NRC, professional organizations and third-party inspectors; and ensuring a safety culture/safety-conscious work environment for vendors. NRC staff will be available after each workshop session for additional discussion.
