In accordance with 10 CFR 52.99(c)(1), the purpose of this letter is to notify the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) of the completion of Vogtie Electric Generating Plant(VEGP) Unit 3 Inspections, Tests, Analyses, and Acceptance Criteria (ITAAC) Item 2.5.04.03 [Index Number 560].

This ITAAC confirms the as-built Data Display and Processing System (DDS) does display the bypassed and operable status of the Protection and Safety Monitoring System (PMS). The closure process for this ITAAC is based on guidance in Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI) 08-01, "Industry Guideline for the ITAAC Closure Process under 10 CFR Part 52," which was endorsed by the NRC in Regulatory Guide 1.215.

This letter contains no new NRC regulatory commitments. Southern Nuclear Operating Company (SNC) request NRC staff confirmation of this determination and publication of the required notice in the Federal Register per 10 CFR 52.99.

3. The DDS provides information pertinent to the status of the protection and safety monitoring system.

Inspections, Tests. Analyses:

Tests of the as-built system will be performed.

Acceptance Criteria:

The as-built system provides displays of the bypassed and operable status of the protection and safety monitoring system.

ITAAC Determination Basis Testing of the as-built Data Display and Processing System (DDS) was performed to verify the DDS provides information pertinent to the status of the protection and safety monitoring system (PMS). SV3-DDS-ITR-800560 (Reference 1) confirmed that the as-built DDS provides display of the bypassed and operable status of the PMS.

The test of the as-built system was performed and the results documented in Reference 1. This test navigates to the DDS bypassed and inoperable status nuclear application and visually confirmed that the as-built DDS provides PMS bypassed and operable status of Reactor Trip, Engineered Safety Feature Actuation System, and Post-Accident Monitoring System instrumentation indication from the Main Control Room.

Results of the test is documented in Reference 1 and confirmed that the as-built DDS provides displays of the bypassed and operable status of the PMS.

Reference 1 is available for NRC inspection as part of Unit 3 ITAAC 2.5.04.03 Completion Packages (Reference 2).

ITAAC Finding Review In accordance with plant procedures for ITAAC completion. Southern Nuclear Operating Company(SNC) performed a review of all ITAAC findings pertaining to the subject ITAAC and associated corrective actions. This review found there were no relevant findings associated with this ITAAC. The review is documented in the ITAAC Completion Package (Reference 2) and is available for NRC review.

U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission ND-22-0245 Enclosure Page 3 of 3 ITAAC Completion Statement Based on the above Information, SNC hereby notifies the NRC that ITAAC 2.5.04.03 was performed for VEGP Unit 3 and the prescribed acceptance criteria were met.

Systems, structures, and components verified as part of this ITAAC are being maintained in their as-designed, ITAAC compliant condition, in accordance with approved plant programs and procedures.
