Pumphouse Forebay on November 3,1998 and recovered the same day. North Atlantic notified the f

' National Marine Fisheries Service of this entrapment incident by telephone'. The New England

. Aquarium'was notified to pickup the seal in order to perform necropsies on the seals in the near future.

.This report is made in response to the National Marine Fisheries Service letter dated 2

January 5,1995 , recommendingthat North Atlantic report seal entrapmentincidents. The attached

. seal entrapment incident report is enclosed as requested.

Speciesidentification: Believed to be harborseal Description / Condition of Seal: Young-of-the-year,in good condition.

Reporter: Ron Sher, Senior Scientist Last SealObservation: A seal skull was recovered from screen wash debris on October 27,1998.

An incident report was submitted to the NMFS*.

Recent Fish Impingement: During the six days since the previous screen wash on October 28,1998, about 80 fish were impinged, including 53 rock gunnel,5 pollock and 4 cunner.

Cooling Waterintake Temperatureat ApproximateTime of Entrapment: 48 F Plant Power Levelat Time of Seabrook Station was operating at 100 percent.
