RENEWAL OF INITIAL CERTIFICATE AND AMENDMENT NOS. 1, 2, AND 3 OF THE CERTIFICATE OF COMPLIANCE NO. 1008 FOR THE HI-STAR 100 CASK SYSTEM (CAC/EPID NOS. 001028/L-2018-RNW-0030)

As requested in your application dated December 7, 2018, and supplemented on June 28, 2019, October 10, 2019, December 12, 2019, June 1, 2020, June 11, 2020, November 13, 2020, and November 24, 2020 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession Nos. ML18345A178, ML19184A232, ML19288A089, ML19350A576, ML20153A768, ML20163A713, ML20318A321, and ML20329A321), enclosed are the renewed initial certificate and renewed Amendment Nos. 1, 2, and 3 of Certificate of Compliance (CoC)
No. 1008 for the HI-STAR 100 Cask System. The certificates have been renewed for an additional 40-year term that expires on October 4, 2059, in accordance with the provisions of Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Part 72, Section 72.40 (10 CFR 72.240). The renewal of these certificates constitutes the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commissions (NRC) approval for continued use of the HI-STAR 100 Cask System for storage of spent nuclear fuel under the general licensing provisions of 10 CFR 72.210 subject to the conditions in the renewed certificate. These conditions require the implementation of an approved aging management program (AMP) to ensure that structures, systems, and components important to safety will continue to perform their intended functions during the extended storage period authorized by the renewal.
As stated in the Federal Register (86 FR 54341, October 1, 2021), the effective date of this CoC is December 15, 2021. The NRC staffs final safety evaluation report for the renewal of the certificates, and the corresponding technical specifications for each renewed certificate are also
