Catawba, McGuire, & Oconee Nuclear Station 2019 Annual Assessment Reactor Oversight Process Nuclear Regulatory Commission - Region II ML20125A231
Purpose of Todays Meeting A public forum for discussion of the licensees performance in 2019.
NRC will address performance identified in the 2019 annual assessment letters.
This is a Category 3 meeting; the licensee will NOT be answering questions.

NRC Reactor Oversight Process (ROP)
Implemented in each of the four NRC regions Involves inspection and assessment activities controlled by each NRC regions senior management Implemented by regional inspectors and onsite resident NRC inspectors
Significance Threshold Performance Indicators Green: Only Baseline Inspection White: Increases NRC oversight Yellow: Increases NRC oversight Red: Increases NRC oversight Inspection Findings Green: Very low safety or security significance finding White: Low to moderate safety of security significance finding Yellow: Substantial safety or security significance finding Red: High safety or security significance finding

Resident Inspector Program NRC resident inspectors live in the local communities and perform inspection activities at Catawba, McGuire, &
Oconee Nuclear Stations Provide daily oversight of plant activity
NRC Response to COVID-19 Mission Critical Functions Monitoring plant activities through inspections and oversight.
Maintaining emergency response capabilities with Regional Incident Response Centers and Headquarters.
Risk-informing "eyes on" inspections through residents and regional inspections.
NRC Response to COVID-19 Additional Actions Expanded use of telework where appropriate.
Dedicated Continuity of Operations Plan.
Coordinating actions with industry on best practices to minimize impacts.

Catawba Nuclear Station Findings and Performance Indicators 12 total violations/findings in 2019:
9 - Green non-cited violations 2 - Severity Level IV Notice of Violations 1 - Green Finding and associated Severity Level IV NCV All Performance Indicators were Green (no performance thresholds exceeded)
NRC Annual Assessment Summary CATAWBA NUCLEAR STATION Catawba Units 1 and 2 remained in the Licensee Response Column of the NRCs ROP Action Matrix for the last quarter of 2019 NRC plans to conduct a traditional enforcement follow-up inspection since Catawba had 3 traditional enforcement violations in 2019 NRC plans to conduct routine baseline inspections at the Catawba Nuclear Station for 2020
