Scoping process 6,K, a SO7 z Tuesday June 17, 2003

Dear Mr. Zalcman,

I live in San Luis Obispo within the Emergency Planning Zone for Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant. I understand that there is consideration of extending the license for Diablo beyond 2006.

My concern is the waste which is being produced and will necessarily be stored permanently on-site since no other option Is available. Adequately safe storage options on-site are being considered. Allowing Diablo to continue to operate beyond 2006 and produce additional waste for which there is not presently even any room or an agreed-upon way to safely store it, would not be prudent.

I urge the NRC to be very comprehensive in the cope of an EIS and with the factors for safety to be considered In reaching a conclusion.

Sincerely, Nancy Norwood 467 Luneta Drive San Luis Obispo, CA 93405 norwoodXslonet org C~a
