Dear Mr. Shea:

On January 31, 2014 , the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) completed an inspection at your Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant using Temporary Instruction 2515/186, "Inspection of Procedures and Processes for Responding to Potential Aircraft Threats". On January 31, 2014, the NRC inspector discussed the results of this inspection with Mr. Steve Bono and other members of your staff. The inspector documented the results of this inspection in the enclosed inspection report.

The objective of this inspection was to assess the implementation procedures and processes of Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant that are required by Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), Part 50.54(hh)(1), which provides the requirements for responding to a potential aircraft threat. The results from this inspection, along with the results from this inspection performed at other operating commercial nuclear plants in the United States, will be used to evaluate the U.S.

nuclear industry's readiness to safely respond to similar events. These results will also help the NRC to determine if additional regulatory actions are warranted.

The NRC inspectors did not identify any findings or violations of more than minor significance.

In accordance with Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations 2.390, "Public Inspections, Exemptions, Requests for Withholding," of the NRC's

"Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter will be available electronically for public inspection in the NRC's Public Document Room or from the Publicly Available Records (PARS) component of the NRC's Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS).
