Subject:

Davis Besse Phone Call Feedback Elba, My phone call with Jon Hook, Design Engineering Manager, and Ken Bird, Director of Site Performance Management, was uneventful.

Not much more information than what Jim Neurauter has already provided. They did mention that they hoped to do impulse response testing (used at Crystal River) on Thursday to help map out where they would do additional core bore samples. Highest core bore taken so far is 15 feet above opening. They intend to map out a region above that to about 30 feet above the opening (as high as they can reach with current setup). I did mention that once they start coming to some conclusions, that they mightwant-to think about a conference call to discuss with our entire NRC focus group. I didn't mention anything regarding thoughts on vessel refueling, since Dan Kimble was going to mention that to them. We can engage on that if need be later, depending on response Dan gets and what our subsequent thoughts are. Please forward this e-mail to our other interested NRC parties. And thanks for staying on top of everything while I am out.Thanks,-Dave I-p
