FENOC License Transfer - January 23, 2020 Call Summary
Dear Mr. Lentz:
By letter dated December 2, 2019 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML19193A003 (Proprietary) and ML19326A759(Non Proprietary)), the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) approved license transfers for Beaver Valley Power Station (BVPS), Unit Nos. 1 and 2, and its generally licensed independent spent fuel storage installation (ISFSI); Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station, Unit No. 1 (DBNPS) and its generally licensed ISFSI; and Perry Nuclear Power PIant, Unit No. 1 (PNPP) and its generally licensed ISFSI.
On January 23, 2020, FirstEnergy Nuclear Operating Company (FENOC, the licensee) discussed with the NRC staff, the potential of FENOC completing the license transfer in the near future. During this call, the NRC:
informed FENOC of the NRC staffs intention to open a new billable charge code to support the NRC staffs efforts in processing the conforming license amendments and insurance indemnity agreements; and reminded FENOC that after receipt of all required regulatory approvals of the proposed transfer actions, FENOC shall inform the Director of the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation in writing of such receipt no later than 5 business days prior to the date of the closing of the transfer. It was noted that any Federal holiday would not count towards the 5-business day requirement.
