Mon, Mar 19, 2007 1:58 PM Vt Entergy Hi, The spent fuel storage at Vt Yankee Entergy is begging for a terrist to crash into. Even a small plane could wreak havoc. Only a tin roof shelters the seven story pool at present. A handheld grenade lancher or even a high powered rifle could strike the pool from across the river, or from a boat in the river. Storage casks on the Connecticut River bank are also vulnerable to floods or a terrorist flying a plane into them. A gasoline tanker driven through the gates could disrupt both online and backup electricity for pumps and controls.Concerned citizen living in fear, Joseph A. Mon, Mar 19, 2007 2:07 PM Spent fuel safety Hi, Please do your job from *once* in your life.The spent fuel pool at Vt Yankee-Entergyt is begging a terrorist to fly a plane through the tin roof, hit it with a grenade launcher, or even a high powered rifle from across the river or even from a speed boat right outside the plant Once the cooling water is gone, a catastrophic fire would spew radiation all over the northeast.
But you folks know all that. Most people believe that the NRC is afraid to allow studies or addressing these issue because you are afraid that it would mean you would be forced to do the REGULATING you are supposed to be doing, and which has been missing from the NRC since the beginning.
