Subject:

Waste Confidence Rule as it applies to Vt. Yankke Nuclear Reactor

Dear NRC:

I wish to add my comments regarding re-licensing Vermont Yankee as they apply to the concerns being considered at this juncture. I have many other concerns about the health and safety issues with Vt. Yankee in addition to those I voice at this time.

The "Waste Confidence Rule" is not based on science and therefore should be scrapped entirely.

The NRC should review the environmental, social and economic consequences of a spent fuel accident on a site by site basis, as a requirement of NEPA, before issuing any license extension or new license.

The NRC must also incorporate the findings of the National Academy of Sciences study on spent fuel security that found water storage in above ground pools such as at Vermont Yankee to be very vulnerable to malicious attack.

Therefore I urge you to not to issue any license extension to Vermont Yankee Nuclear Reactor!

Thank you very much for hearing citizen input on this important matter considering overall health and risk of species extinction.

Yours truly, Elizabeth Adams Greenfield, MA IMpc4 5L'O7 sncy-a 1
