SUBJECT:

Grand Gulf Nuclear Station Unit 1, Spent Fuel Storage Radioactive Effluent Release Report 2022 Grand Gulf Nuclear Station, Unit 1 Docket No. 50-416 License No. NPF-29 Grand Gulf Nuclear Station (GGNS) Certificate of Compliance for Spent Fuel Storage Casks Section 5.4 requires the submittal of an Annual Radioactive Effluent Release Report.

Additionally, Title 1O Code of Federal Regulations 72.44(d)(3) requires the annual submittal of a summary of effluents from the independent spent fuel storage installation. The purpose of this letter is to document effluent radioactive releases for the past calendar year from the independent spent fuel storage installation.

The HI-STORM 100 cask system is used at the independent spent fuel storage installation. The HI-STORM 100 Cask System does not create any radioactive materials or have a radioactive waste treatment system. The design of the HI-STORM 100 confinement boundary assures that there are no credible design basis events that would result in a radiological release to the environment. There are no other radioactive systems at the GGN independent spent fuel storage installation. Therefore, specific operating procedures for the control of radioactive material are not required, and there were no radionuclides released to the environment in liquid or gaseous effluents from the independent spent fuel storage installation at GGNS during the reporting period of January 1, 2022 to December 31, 2022.

There are no commitments contained in this submittal. If you have any questions or need additional information, please contact Sarah Schwartz, Manager Chemistry at 601-437-6720.
