3.1Thepurposeofthisprocedure istoprovideamethodofventingnon-condensible gasesfromtheReactorCoolantSystem(RCS)whichmayinhibitcorecoolingduringnaturalcirculation.

3.2Guidanceandprecautions arealsoprovidedforuseindetermining thesizeofthenon-condensible voidformation, whentoinitiateventing,andtermination ofventingoperations.

4.0 Symptoms

4.1AbnormalRCSconditions suchaslargevariations inpressurizer levelduringnormalchargingandsprayingoperations haveoccurred.

4.2Ifavailable, reactorvesselheadtemperatures equaltoorgreaterthansaturation temperature.

4.3Planteventshaveoccurred(suchassafetyinjection tankfSIT}discharge, rapidRCScooldown, orcoreuncoveryevents)thatmayresultinthepresenceofagaseousvoidinthevesselhead.4.4Lossofpressurizer pressurecontrolduringnormalpressurizer conditio~s (i.e.,bubbleestablished, normalheaters/spray capabilities).

4.5Pressurizer indicates departure fromsaturated conditions i.e.,foragiventemperature, pressureishigherthansaturation pressure.
