:As a result of the incident at the Sequoyah Fuels Corporation onJanuary 4, 1986, it was determined that some telephone numbers held by thelicensee for emergency notification and assistance were incorrect. For exam-ple, the numbers for the NRC Region IV office and DOE emergency radiologicalassistance were incorrect. In addition, the DOE number was improperly identi-fied in the radiological contingency plan under a listing for NRC. A prelimi-nary review of other contingency plans indicated that this situation is notunique to Sequoyah Fuels Corporation.Discussion:The following commercial telephone numbers are available for notification tothe NRC of incidents and reportable items during normal office hours.8604220380 IN 86-28April 24, 1986 Region I, King of Prussia, Pennsylvania(215)337-5000Region II, Atlanta, Georgia(404)331-4503Region III, Glen Ellyn, Illinois(312)790-5500Region IV, Arlington, Texas(817)860-8100Region IV Uranium Recovery Field Office, Denver, Colorado(303)236-2805Region V, Walnut Creek, California(415)943-3700During non-office hours, the NRC Operations Center in Bethesda, Maryland, isavailable at the following commercial numbers on a 24-hour basis to receivenotification of incidents and reportable items which must be reported prior tothe opening of the regional office during the next working day.NRC Operations Center (24 hours), Bethesda, Maryland(301)951-0550(301)427-4056 (Backup) l(301)427-4259 (Backup)(301)492-8893 (Backup)
