No: III-13-043 November 8, 2013 CONTACT: Viktoria Mitlyng 630-829-9662 Prema Chandrathil 630-829-9663 NRC Names New Resident Inspector at Point Beach Nuclear Station The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has selected Kevin Barclay as the new resident inspector at the Point Beach Nuclear Power Plant in Two Rivers, Wis., approximately 13 miles northeast of Manitowoc.

Barclay joined the NRC as a reactor engineer in Region III in 2006.

He served as a resident inspector at Kewaunee Nuclear Power Plant. Prior to joining the agency, he worked on the nuclear propulsion system of the aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan. He received a bachelors of science degree in chemistry from the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse and a masters degree in engineering management from Old Dominion University. Barclay also served as a Naval Science Instructor for the Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Kevin Barclay is an excellent inspector with a firm commitment to safety. He will help the NRC fulfill its mission of protecting people and the environment by ensuring the Point Beach plant operates at the high standards set by the NRC, said Region III Administrator Cynthia D. Pederson.

Each U.S. commercial nuclear plant site has at least two NRC resident inspectors. They serve as the agencys eyes and ears at the facility, conducting inspections, monitoring major work projects and interacting with plant workers and the public. Barclay joins Senior Resident Inspector Stephen Burton at the facility. Both inspectors can be reached at (920) 755-2309.
