The Nuclear Regulatory Commissions Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards (ACRS) will hold a public meeting March 10-12 in Rockville, Md., to discuss several issues of current interest. Some of the topics include:

  • enhancing the safety focus of small modular reactor reviews;
  • the Point Beach nuclear power plant units 1 and 2 extended power uprate application;
  • the status of the NRC Groundwater Protection Task Force efforts; and
  • improvements to the Generic Issue Program.

The ACRS advises the Commission, independently from the NRC staff, on safety issues related to the licensing and operation of nuclear power plants and in areas of health physics and radiation protection. The meeting will be held in Room T-2B1 of the agencys Two White Flint North building, at 11545 Rockville Pike. Sessions on March 10 and March 11 will run from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., and the March 12 session will run from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Portions of the meeting may be closed to discuss proprietary information, as well as organizational and personnel matters.
