Letter, L. Root to H. Denton, " License Amendment 84 Regarding Water Quality Requirements,"

NG-83-1424, April 25, 1983.

Dear Mr. Keppler:

Per our referenced letter, Iowa Electric Light and Power Company agreed to submit to your office copies of all NPDES violations reports. Transmitted herewith, is a copy of the monthly monitoring report for April. This report shows a monthly average suspended solids effluent concentration of 34 milligrams per liter, which exceeds our permitted monthly average of 30 milligrams per liter. The daily limit of 45 milligrams per liter was not exceeded. The violation was due to the large number of personnel on-site to support the recent refueling outage. We expect the discharge concentrations to return to within the permitted levels upon completion of the outage, when personnel levels return to normal.

Please contact this office if you have any questions pertaining to this matter.

Very truly yours, hN Richard W. M y Manager, Nuclear ivision RWM/RAB/dmh*
