SUMMARY
OF MARCH 2, 2023, CLOSED MEETING WITH FRAMATOME INC. AND THE U.S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION FOR TOPICAL REPORT, ANP-10339P, REVISION 0, ARITA - ARTEMIS/RELAP INTEGRATED TRANSIENT ANALYSIS METHODOLOGY (EPID L-2018-TOP-0034)
On March 2, 2023, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff held a closed meeting via Microsoft Teams with representatives from Framatome Inc. (Framatome). The purpose of the meeting was for the NRC staff and Framatome representatives to discuss the proposed limitations and conditions (L&Cs) associated with Topical Report (TR) ANP-10339P, Revision 0, ARITA - ARTEMIS/RELAP Integrated Transient Analysis Methodology, review. The meeting was noticed on January 30, 2023 and is available in the Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) at Accession No. ML23030B911.
During the meeting, the NRC staff and Framatome representatives went through the potential L&Cs and clarification items by discussing the basis and language associated with each item.
During the discussions, Framatome representatives asked the NRC staff for clarification on a manufacturing tolerance question posed by the NRC staff. The NRC staff later provided a written discussion of its question regarding the manufacturing tolerance, which is documented in. The NRC staff agreed to consider Framatomes suggested clarifications on specific L&Cs and plans to make revisions as appropriate to clarify the intent. The NRC staff also discussed its plans to issue the draft safety evaluation with the associated revisions to the L&Cs. At the conclusion of the meeting, the NRC staff and Framatome representatives discussed next steps and action items for each proposed L&C. The proprietary information for the potential L&Cs including action items and the manufacturing tolerance question, are described in Enclosure 2.
