THE U.S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSIONS REVISED SCHEDULE FOR THE REVIEW OF FRAMATOMES TOPICAL REPORT, ANP-10339P, REVISION 0, ARITA - ARTEMIS/RELAP INTEGRATED TRANSIENT ANALYSIS METHODOLOGY (EPID L-2018-TOP-0034)
Dear Mr. Peters:
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff plans to revise the schedule for its review of Framatome, Inc. (Framatome) Topical Report (TR) ANP-10339P, Revision 0, ARITA - ARTEMIS/RELAP Integrated Transient Analysis Methodology (ARITA)
(Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Package Accession No. ML18242A480), submitted on August 28, 2018. By letter dated April 26, 2022 (ADAMS Accession No. ML22097A264), the NRC staff revised the ANP-10339P, Revision 0, review schedule, which included the submission date of May 31, 2022, for Framatomes expected final and combined response to the request for additional information (RAI) questions, and TR updates. In a letter dated June 30, 2022 (ADAMS Package Accession No. ML22193A169),
Framatome submitted the final and combined response to the RAI questions, and TR updates.
In an e-mail (ADAMS Accession No. ML22265A109) dated September 20, 2022, Framatome requested that the NRC prioritize the review of TR BAW-10227P, Revision 2, Evaluation of Advanced Cladding and Structural Material (M5) in PWR Reactor Fuel over ANP-10339P, Revision 0.
Due to the complexity of the TR ANP-10339P, Revision 0, review, resource challenges, the magnitude and delay of the June 30, 2022, submittal, and M5 TR priority request, the NRC staff plans to revise the current ANP-10339P, Revision 0, review schedule. This revised schedule provides a new baseline for the TR ANP-10339P, Revision 0, review. The NRC staff plans to issue the draft safety evaluation (SE) by January 16, 2023, and final SE by March 31, 2023, as annotated in the enclosed revised schedule. Additionally, the Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards (ACRS) subcommittee and full committee meetings will be rescheduled to February 16, 2023, and March 2, 2023, respectively.
