(RNII) is writing to provide notification of a deviation in bolts provided with the LG 1 option on Rosemount 3159 remote seals. Bolts provided with the LG 1 option were delivered without the zinc plating required per Rosemount Nuclear Instruments Report D2019023 Rev B Technical Authori:tation for the LG1 Option Code.

Rosemount 3153N Series Pressure Transmitters with Rosemount 3159 Remote seals with the LG1 option, which were supplied to Constellation Energy's Dresden Generating Station and LaSalle County Nuclear Generating Station during a period from December 2019 to June 2022. See Appendix A for a list of affected serial numbers.

Rosemount 3153N Series Pressure Transmitters with Rosemount 3159 Remote Seals with the LG1 option are a subset of the Rosemount 3150 Series offering. All other Rosemount 3150 Series Pressure Transmitters supplied with Rosemount 3159 Remote Seals are not affected by this notification.

3.0 Identification of firm supplying the item:

The LG 1 remote seal option supplies a modified Rosemount 3159 Remote Seal upper housing and hardware that is compatible with the legacy Rosemount 1159 Remote Seal lower housing. The remote seal bolts on units supplied with this option are specified to be SAE J429 Grade 8 with zinc-plating per ASTM F1941 5CN for corrosion resistance. RN II Identified a single manufacturing lot of LG1 bolts lacKed the required zinc-plating.

Nov.1.2022 7:56AM No.0195 P. 3 The SAE J429 Grade 8 bolts may experience corrosion without zinc-plating when exposed to prolonged environments with high humidity or with direct contact with aqueous solutions. Sufficient corrosion may result In a reduction of pressure boundary integrity.

As a result of the above Information, RNII determined on October 25 1h, 2022 that a notification to affected licensees was warranted.

5.0 The corrective action which has been taken; the name of the individual or organization responsible for that action; and the length of time taken to complete that action:

RNII has quarantined all inventory of non-zinc-plated bolts. Further RNII has Identified all Rosemount 3153N Series Pressure Transmitters with Rosemount 3159 Remote Seals with the LG1 option that were shipped with the affected bolts.

Non-conforming bolts were returned to the vendor to be zinc-plated and have subsequently been returned to RNII.

Orders in RNll's backlog have been inspected and confirmed to be equipped with the correct SAE J429 Grade 8 bolts with zinc-plating per ASTM F1941 5CN.

Mr. Gerard Hanson. VP&GM of Rosemount Nuclear Instruments, Inc. is responsible for any further factory action related to this issue.

6.0 Any advice related to the potential failure of the item:

The affected Rosemount 3153N Series Pressure Transmitters equipped with Rosemount 3159 Remote Seals with the LG1 option were supplied during a period from December 2019 to June 2022. RNII recommends end users evaluate the significance of this notice to their specific pressure transmitter applications and environments. RNII further recommends that end users replace the un-plated bolts in susceptible applications to mitigate the potential for corrosion induced failure over time.
