Thank you for the notification on this project. The location of the project appears to be outside the Poarch Band of Creek Indians area of interest. We respectfully defer NHPA consultation to those Tribes with a stronger connection to the projects location.

Re: Kairos Power Hermes Non-Power Test Reactor Construction Permit Review The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) is conducting an environmental review for a construction permit application submitted by Kairos Power, LLC (Kairos) for the proposed Hermes non-power demonstration reactor. The facility, if licensed, would be constructed on a site within the East Tennessee Technology Park in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. The purpose of the attached letter is to initiate Section 106 consultation with your Tribe. The NRCs notice of intent to conduct scoping in regards to the Kairos application has been published in the Federal Register: 87 FR 9394. The comment period concludes on April 19, 2022.
