March 31, 2022 Mr. Kenneth Erwin, Chief U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Environmental Review New Reactor Branch Division of Rulemaking, Environment, and Financial Support Office of Nuclear Material Safety and Safeguards Washington, D.C. 20555-0001

Dear Mr. Erwin:

Thank you for the letter of notification regarding the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commissions (NRC) environmental review for a construction permit application submitted by Kairos Power, LLC (Kairos) for the proposed Hermes non-power demonstration reactor. If licensed, the facility would be constructed on a site within the East Tennessee Technology Park (ETTP) in Oak Ridge, Roane County, Tennessee.

The proposed project is outside of our area; therefore, we do not request government-to-government consultation with the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission. While the Chickasaw Nation has no objection to the undertaking, we respectfully defer to the federally-recognized First American tribe(s) who have identified a connection to the project area.

Your efforts to preserve and protect significant historic properties are appreciated. If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Karen Brunso, tribal historic preservation officer, at (580) 272-1106, or by email at karen.brunso@chickasaw.net.

Sincerely, Lisa John, Secretary Department of Culture and Humanities cc: KairosHermes-CPEIS@nrc.gov
