The ' referenced request for information focussed on generic and plant specific backfits processed after September 20, 1985, which were rejected due to.an adverse cost-benefit analysis.
Region III has not processed any generic One plant specific backfit regarding the addition of a third diesel I
generator at the Prairie Island facility was rejected based on an adverse cost-benefit analysis.
Enclosed for your use is a memorandum describing the cost-benefit analysis for the Prairie Islaiid backfit and the requested infomation in the specified fomat.
In Section C, "Sumary," of the enclosed memorandum we referred to new accident probability statistics which were being developed for the Prairie Island facility.
We have reevaluated this backfit value-impact analysis and have determined that there is no need for us to upgrade the analysis with the new data when it becomes available.
The one to three orders of magnitude
.between the impact and value make it unlikely that refined accident probability statistics would affect the analysis results.
