Waterford, Connecticut PURPOSE: The purpose of this meeting is to provide an opportunity for interested members of the public to meet with the NRC staff on the planned decornmissioning of Millstone Nuclear Power Station, Unit 1 (MP1). The NRC staff will discuss the NRC regulatory programs applicable to decommissioning activities, and Northeast Nuclear Energy Company (NNECO) (the licensee for MP1) will discuss the status of its decommissioning plans.

6:30 - 7:00 p.m. Sign-up list filled out for members of the public desiring to comment or to obtain a transcript of the meeting. Each person who signs up, depending on the number and time available, will be able to make comments during the public comment period. Persons wanting to I comment who did not sign up may be heard if time is still available. l 7:00 p.m. Mr. Tony Sheridan, First Selectman, Town of Waterford, opens the meeting, describes the purpose of meeting, and briefs attendees on the agenda.

7:10 p.m. The NRC discusses the regulatory process for the decommissioning of a nuclear power plant including the license termination process and future plant oversight.

7:45 p.m. The licensee comments on the status of plans being developed for the decommissioning of Millstone Nuclear Power Station, Unit 1.

8:00 p.m. Public question and answer period followed by public comment period.

10:00 p.m. Closing remarks by Mr. Sheridan and adjournment. NRC staff will remain af ter adjournment if necessary.
