SUBJECT:
REQUESTFORIhTERPRETATIONOF10CFR50.72 REQUIREMENTS CONCERNING SAFETY RELIEF VALVES A question has arisen at LaSalle County Nuclear Power Station on the reportability of safety relief valves liftin'g and reseating and it appears to be a generic concern at Boiling Water Reactors.
It is requested that you determine if the following two situations are reportable per,10 CFR 50.72 and if so, under which criterion.
1.
A safety relief valve that does not serve an Automatic Depressurization System (ADS) function lifts and resaats in the absence of a valid actuation signal.
2.
AnADSvalviliftsandreseatswithoutavalidEngineeredSafetyFeature (ESF) actuation signal.
