" Review of the Probabilistic Risk Assessment for the Seabrook Nuclear Power Plant" BNL Principal Investigators:

NRC Project Manager:

W. Lyon (FTS 492-9405), RS Branch 1.

Scope /

Purpose:

This project is to provide technical support to the Reactor Systems Branch in reviewing the accuracy and completeness of the Seabrook Proba-BNL will perform a critical review of the bilistic Safety Study (SPSS).

plant design and PRA methods supplemented by audit calculations of selec-ted accident sequences to confirm the validity of. the methods and results.

Work Performed During Period:

is nearing completion and will be submitted to the A preliminary report r

NRC project manager shortly.

3.

Problems / Delays:

The transmittal date for the preliminary report has been delayed because of higher priority given by the NRC to FIN A-3805.

4.

Summary of Progress to Date/ Milestones:

See Item 2.

5.

Next Reporting Period:

The PRA review will continue, and BNL will attempt to provide the NRC staff with its assessment of the radiological source terms and release characteristics to be used by the NRC staff to reevaluate the consequences.
