DAILY HIGHLIGHT - ISSUANCE OF RERACK AMENDMENTS Plant Name Diablo Canyon Units 1 and 2 On May 30, 1986 amendments were issued for the expansion of the spent fuel pools of Diablo Canyon Units 1 and 2.

The reracking will be performed with the pools in a dry and uncontaminated condition. The licensee expects to complete the effort in about 8 weeks. Unit 1 is scheduled to shut down for the first refueling at the end of August.

Should a trip occur after August 1 the unit will not be restarted.

A prehearing conference was held on May 13, 1986. We expect a hearing to be scheduled in about September.
