How You Would Be Told about an Emergency If there were an emergency, a siren would make a steady three-to-five minute sig-nal. If you hear this signal:

1. Go indoors. Turn your radio to an Emergency Broadcast System station.

You will be told what to do. Staying tuned to the radio might be all you would need to do. Or, you might be told to take other action.

2. Do not use your telephone except for a personal emergency. Leave the lines open for official business. If you can do so without using the phone, check to see if others have understood the siren andWadycy message.

(Insert 5 School,

e businesses, hospitals, and nursing homes have been given tone alert radios. In an emergency, these radios would be automatically tuned to an Emergency Broadcast System station.
