To describe the program used by Ehgineering (by walkdown) for field verificatica of protective coatings. 'Ihis instruction is established to ensure the integrity of design control activities specified per Feference 1-A.

2.2 SCCPE

'Ihis instruction is applicable to areas previosuly " final acceoted" (by gaality control crganizations) in wnich protective coatings may have been subjected to minor damage and require minor repair.

/ 2.3 RESENSIBILITY

'Ihe CPP Civil / Structural Engineer has been delegated the responsibility for the 1:rplementation of the measures described herein.

Where specific individuals are identified by position in this instruction, prcperly authorized designees may be delegated to act in that capacity.

2.4 DEFINITICIE 2.4.1 Mince Damaae -

Type 1 - Damage of finish mat only regardless of size - primer and/or intermediate coat unaffected.

Type 2 - Damage to primer m at regardless of size. (Substrate unaffected).

Type 3 - Damage to substrate for areas less than or equal to 4 sq. in.

3.0 INSTRUCTION 3.1 MINOR DAMAGE REPAIR Based tpon the type of damage, all repairs shall be performed as follows by qualified applicators using approved materials as established by previously approved construction procedures / instructions.

a. Type 1 - Remove foreign matter, solvent wipe and apply finish asat (1 to 3 mils).
b. Type 2 - Lightly abrade, solvent wipe and apply finish asat (4 to 6 mils).
c. Type 3 Minor - Abrade, solvent wipe and apply finish coat (4 to 6 mils). .

3.2 MAJOR DAMAGE REPAIR Major damage shall be repaired as follows.

a. A traveler will be issued for any area or iten that has not been c:ated, or requires major repair.
b. Se area or item will be cleaned and coated in accordance with Reference 1-B or 1-C.
c. Inspection will be in accordance with the appropriate QC procedure (normally QI-QP-11.4-26 or QI-QP-11.2-27).

3.3 FIELD VERIFICATICN Repair activities shall be verified by Ehgineering by c:mpletion

'of the Coatings Walkdown Report (Figure 1) in accordance with Attachment 1.

Upon ampletion of repair activities, the ocupleted report shall be forwarded to the aspropriate building management group for subnittal to the Permanent Plant Records Vault (?PRV). After submittal, building management controls will preclude additional

oatings activities in the area (s) specified on the report.
