February 6,1975 Mr. Paul R. Nelson, Chief Radiological and Environmental Protection Branch Office of Inspection and Enforcement United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission 631 Park Avenue King of Prussia, Penrisylvania 19406

Dear Mr. Nelson:

Subject:

Oyster Creek Nuclear Generating Station Docket No. 50-219 RO Inspection Report No. 50-219/74-17 During his inspection of the Oyster Creek Nuclear Generating Station on November 11-14, 1974, Mr. Hyson noted a violation of 10CFR20,203 (f) (1) and (2), which requires containers of licensed material to bear a label showing the radiation caution symbol, the words, " Caution-Radioactive Material",

and identification of the radioactive contents.

Drums located on the east side of the Reactor Building at the 75-foot elevation, in Bay #3 of the Rad-waste Building, and on the outside of the Radwaste Building south of the loading dock were observed to have no labels. As Mr. Hyson noted in his report, the drums located in the Reactor Building and outside the Radwaste Building were properly labeled prior to the conclusion of the inspection.

Since the inspection, all drums located in Bay #3 of the Radwaste Building have been properly labeled and have been shipped for burial. All drums which are to be stored in the future shall be. labeled immediately upon completion of the appropriate surveys.

Please note that the labeling of these drums in Bay #3 was completed within two days after the completion of the inspection.

Very truly yours, k
