Dear Mr. Collins:

Subject:

Oyster Creek Nuclear Generating Station Docket No. 50-219 Requalification Program We are taking this opportunity to_a_dvise you that the current

~

cycle of the Oyster Creek Nuclear Generating Station Licensed Operator Requalification Program and associated simulated NRC examination scheduled to be completed December 17, 1975 will be extended six months to June 1976.

The need to extend our requalification period is as a result of several unscheduled outages during the training cycle and, more importantly, the disability of two licensed control room operators, forcing the operation.s department shift schedule to be changed from a 5-shift to a 4-shift schedule, and hence eliminating the " training week" from the rotating shift schedule.

This situation has existed since late September and is expected to continue until several license candidates examined last week are hopefully granted operator licenses and complete their control room operator qualifications.

The unscheduled outages which disrupted the lecture presentation during the training cycle were associated with the condenser tube leakage situation.

This problem will be rectified by an extended refueling shutdown which has been rescheduled from April 1976 to late December 1975.

During this shutdown, the main condenser will be retubed.

This shutdown is expected to last eight to ten weeks and is the reason that a six-month, rather than a shorter extension, has been selected.

Following the outage, it is planned that at least one lecture cycle be completed and then the simulated NRC examination be administered.
