Mr. Paul R. Nelson, Chief Radiological and Environmental Protection Branch United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission Region 1 631 Park Avenue King of Prussia, Pennsylvania 19406

Dear Mr. Nelson:

Subj ect: Oyster Creek Nuclear Generating Station Docket No. 50-219 IE Inspection Report No. 50-219/75-08 Two violations were noted in Mr. Bores' inspection of March 18-20, 1975 (No. 75-08). These involved the failure.

inalyze some surface and well water samples in accordance with the time intervals specified in the Oyster Creek Nuclear Generating Station's Technical Specifications. This was caused by an apparent change in the procedures of the radio-analytical vendor contracted by Jersey Central Power 6 Light Company for the sample analyses.

Mr. Bores was informed that such occurrences had prompted a change in vendors in the past.

To insure that similar occurrences do not occur in the future, a program is being initiated immediately to send to the vendor with each sample shipment, a listing of all of the analyses required by the Technical Specifications.

As the analyses are completed, the sheet is checked off and any remaining sample is retained.

Upon completion of all the analyses for a particular sampling period, the check-off sheet is returned to Jersey Central Power 6 Light Company where it is reviewed to assure all analyses have been completed. The vendor is then informed as to whether the samples may be disposed.

Very truly yours, f '1 q
