TELEPHONE CALL FROM CHARLES AMATO, STATE OF NEW JERLEY, ON.
OYSTER CREEK, 4/17/73 2
Amato called to relate an anonymous phone call he received late on the, evening of 4/16/73, 'during which the caller claimed that personnel l
at the Oyster Creek facility were receiving excessive exposures, including 'specifically during' the current refueling outage. Further, that the Atomic Energy Comission.had been informed of this ' situation -
but had failed to take action. The caller was communicating with the state in hopes that they could do something about.the situation.
Per Amato, the caller than hung up.
Charles pointed out the Forked-River hearings were currently underway and that if this issue were released to the media, it could be messy.
I informed Charles of our previous receipt of an anonymous letter a11 edging t
numerous deficiencies in the general areas of the rad protection program and rad waste managenent, including specifically, personnel exposures.
I told him of our special inspection in this regard and the fact that the results have been documented in an enforcement letter and responded to by Jersey Central.
I told him that the corrective actions outlined in their response, if implemented in a timely manner, should adequately resolve our concerns. He was told that a followup inspection was scheduled for this week and that the scope of the inspection included general rad protection program practices during the current refueling outage.
