Dear Mr. Giambusso:

SUBJECr: OYSTER CREEK NUCLEAR GENERATING STATION RADIOACTIVE WASTE SYSTEM MODITICATION FSAR AMENDMENT In our September 20, 1973 letter transmitting the' Preliminary Description and Analyses of Proposed Modifications to the Gaseous, Liquid and Solid Radioactive Waste Treatment Systen.s for the Oyster Creek Nuclear Generating Station, it was indicated that a date for submittal of the Final Safety Analysis Report Amendment would be given on October 16, 1973.

It was further indicated that the information necessary to prepare tras amundment would be available when the detailed design had proceeded rufficiently in this reir, ard.

Our studies have indicated that we will reach a detailed design stage aufficient to submit an FSAR Amendment for the Gaseous Radioactive Waste System Modification sooner than for the Liquid and Solid Radioactive Waste System Modification. On this basis, in order to facilitate your review, we plan to make a two part FSAR Amendment submittal.

An FSAR Amendment discussing the Gaseous Radioactive Waste System Modifi-cation will be submitted on or before May 15, 1974. This will be followed by a supplementary amendment discussing the Liquid and Solid Radioactive Waste Modification on or before December 15, 1974.

. y The major requirement in the preparation of these documents is the availability of actual vendor informat on.

In order to file as soon as 3

possible, we will be utilizing the data proposed by each vendor as part of the bid response package. This, of course, is subject to minor alteration and, in some cases, will not be entirely complete for the purposes of the latest FSAR guidelines.

In such cases we will file addenda to the amend-ments, if necessary.

Very truly yours,

)W t
