This. confirms our telephone call to Mr. J. Carrol, Oyster Creek Plant Superintendent,'on September 6,1973, pertaining to the possibility of inverted absorber tubes in the control. rods'at the Oyster Creek Nuclear Generating Station. It was agreed that during youroutage in early September, that is planned for hydraulic anubber inspections, you would conduct shutdow6 margin tests.on all control rods to verify that the

minimum shutdown ~ margin is at least 0.0075 A k/k at cold, xenon-free, 1

operating samarium conditio'ns..It is expected that these tests will be performed at approximately 120*F and allowance will be made for the-shut'down worths of xenon and samarium.

Provide this offica with a written re' port of the results within 10 days of the couvTettan :or -etune tasta. If any anomaly should be found, report in accordance with:the Tech'nical Specifications for Oyster Creek.
