bThe Honorable Nonnan Lent United States House of Representatives Washington. 0.C.

Dear Congressman Lent:
This is in response to your recent letter inquiring as to the status of your March 24, 1983 request on behalf of several constituents concerned with the Shoreham nuclear power plant on Long Island.
According to our files, your March 24 letter was answered by our office on April 20,1983.
For your convenience, I am enclosing a copy of that response.
Since our April 20 response, the Atomic Safety and Licensing Board (ASLB) in the Shoreham proceeding has issued a Partial Initial Decision addressing all of the safety contentions raised in the licensing hearing with the exception of the County's recently admitted contention regarding the emergency diesel generators and emergency planning issues.
On May 11,1983, a separate Atomic Safety and Licensing Board was appointed to deal with the emergency planning phase of the Shoreham proceeding.
The Board's 1400-page decision was issued on September 21, 1983 and is available to the public at the NRC Public Document Rooms in Washington and at the Shoreham-Wading River Public Library, Route 25A, Shoreham, NY 11786.
I hope that this information will be of assistance in responding to your constituents.
Sincerely, Carlton Kannerer, Director Office of Congressional Affairs
