In your letter dated January 5,19P.2, and received by this office on January 20, 1983, to Chairnan Palladino you requested that this agency's hearings involving the Shcreham nuclucr facility be conducted in Suffolk County,liew York.
As you are aware, the public hearings on the Shorehan iluclear Power Plant resuned on January 10, 1983, in Suffolk County, ti.Y.
It is not presently contenplated that the hearings will be noved away fron Suffolk County again.

The hearings were moved from Long Island to Washington, D.C., only for the period October 12.1982 until i
the end of 1982. This was done to allow the Licensing Board to work on this i
transportino to long Island the voluninous documents related to the quality and other matters in their offices, and to relieve then of the burdens of assurance natters that were being litigated during this period.
Very few nenbers of the public had been visiting the hearings, and none of the parties actively participating in the hearings on this natter, including Suffolk County, whose attorneys' offices are in !!ashington, D.C., ob.jected to this nove.
The hearings will be continuing in Suffolk County for the next several nonths. lle appreciate your interest in this natter.
