The above, being duly sworn, depose and say:

I, Don Backes, Jr. am a pipefitter and welder for the H.P. Foley Company. I as and have been a qualified brazer since 1976, working initially for S and Q Construction and now for the H. P. Foley Company on the Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant.

The brazing procedures now in use at Diablo Canyon are the same as those that have been in use since at least 1976 when I began work.

During 1981 I prepared 24 test specimens for procedure qualification testing of copper and stainless steel brazed tube joints. Twelve of these specimens were for copper braze joints and twelve were for-stainless steel braze joints. For each material' two specimens were prepared in the vertical up-flow, flat, and vertical down-flow positions.

About a week after the initial specimens were prepared, I prepared one or two additional specimens in the flat position.

I brazed all of these specimens using the approved braze procedures and I did not deviate from the procedures or manipulate the brazing procedures for these specimens, h.-
6.
A H.P. Foley QC inspector witnessed the brazing of all of the specimens.
