I, Paul L. Stieger, being duly sworn, . depose and say:

I,- am the Resident Construction Manager for Pullman Power Products Corporation at the Pacific Gas and Electric Diablo Canyon fluc1 ear Power P1 ant near Avila Beach, California.~ I have held this position since April 1,1983.

1. On or about January 13, 1934, I, and Assistant Resident Construction Manager, !1r. Robert Faull, attended a meeting at the job site. The meeting was called by Project Construction Management and included contractor -

representatives from Bechtel, H. P. Foley, and Pullman Power Products who were working at the site. Included in the topics discussed at the meeting was a directive by Project Construction ffanagement for each Contractor to reduce its number of employees on the site. Pullman Power Products Corporation was directed to reduce their work force by approximately fifty (50) workers.

Neither fir. Hudson nor any other person and H. P. Foley were mentioned at this meeting as individuals to be laid off. Mr. Hudson was not discussed at this meeting in any context.

2. I discussed this directive with my Construction Superintendents and it was determined to lay off fifty (50) craft employees by reducing each crew proportionately. This resulted, in general, in two individuals being reduced in each group. The selection of the individuals was made, in accordance with standard construction procedures, by the General Foreman and/or Foreman who were most aware of the quality and quantity of their work, attendance record, and related work habits of the employees. Neither Mr. Hudson nor any other person was metioned at this meeting as individuals to be laid off. lir. Hudson was not discussed at this meeting in any context.

3. I did not order, request, or even suggest that Mr. Hudson nor his partner, Mr. McDermott, be laid off.
